Our Mission Statement:
To provide safe, interesting, family oriented recreational events and activities for the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania at little or no cost.

Our History:
Incorporated in 2003, F.R.E.E. in the Abingtons is a non-profit corporation comprised of over one hundred members. For several years prior to its formal organization, the members hosted the nation's largest free amateur haunted attraction geared towards families and children. Thousands of people of all ages attended and received free admission, food, candy, and prizes. All donations collected were voluntary and entirely for the benefit of the Saint Joseph's Center in Scranton, PA. A short video regarding this aspect of the organization can be found here.

Our Facility and Activities:
F.R.E.E. in the Abingtons maintains a thirty-acre parcel of historic land in South Abington Township. This land serves as a private park and recreational facility for public service and member use. Over 99.7 % of the beautiful natural green space and watershed have been preserved and utilized for scenic walking and riding trails, open spaces for picnicking and camping, recreational fields and fishing areas. A small section near the entrance to the land encompasses a multi-purpose building, outdoor stage and natural audience area, and a grass covered parking field. The facility is utilized for our existing Halloween events including new nararrated haunted trails, as well as other limited private recreational activities. F.R.E.E. in the Abingtons also hosts other activities including a free summer concert, free radio, and an award-winning parade regiment. We will also be offering a summer theater series in the future.

We are always searching for new people to help us. We seek members who share our passion for doing good yet out-of-the-ordinary things for the community and preserving the enviornment. Members come from all walks of life and bring a tremendous variety of skills and energy that we desperately need to make our vision a reality. Anyone who becomes a member is sure to be able to find a way in which they can make a difference while also having a lot of fun. Joining our organization to "network" is highly frowned upon.
